Dubi Katz/Dov Katz is a roboticist whose main study is on Interactive Perception. It is a way of formulating theories about the world and test these theories through interactions. It imposes structure but limited to what needs to be perceived and explained. In short, it is acting to improve perception. Roboticists like Dov Katz will design a robot that will explore the environment in such a way a child explores a new toy.
Dov Katz academic career started at Tel Aviv University in Israel. He majored in computer science and electrical engineering. He conducted an undergrad research in computer vision and machine learning. He eventually moved to the United States to pursue his passion for robotics. He had his master’s degree and P.h. D. from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. His main focus is on robotics focusing on machine learning, computer vision, and autonomous manipulation. He had his postdoctoral fellowship at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
